This isn’t your average Nativity play.

The play Virgin addresses the important issue of clinging to God’s word when it means rejection, doubt and shame. When Mary agreed to become the mother of the Messiah, was she expecting to be rejected by fiancée and family? Was she expecting the pressures put upon her to deny the vision she’d received? This speculative look at a hidden time in the Nativity story explores with humor and compassion a young girl’s struggle to retain her footing in the face of the world’s disbelief.

This play was produced in 2004 at Immanuel Christian Fellowship church in Portland, Oregon.
